Extraordinary? Yes. You.
We are all extraordinary beings, though the way you feel about yourself and your life at this moment might not reflect that fact.
My goal is to help you feel and be as extraordinary as you are.
Being extraordinary is not about doing or having extraordinary things. It is a function of being human and possessing extraordinary capacities for conscious thought, connection, compassion, imagination, creativity and innovation. It is about possessing the capacity to make choices.
Somehow we’re routinely distracted from these truths of human existence and what they can bring to living a life on earth.
For too many of us, our true, whole, extraordinary selves are buried under the thoughts, feelings, expectations and perceived obligations that form our everyday realities — along with cultural ideas and status-quo constraints we may not even be aware of.
Add all of this together, and too many of us are just getting by.
Too many of us are not really living the lives we could be — lives driven by our fully realized selves. And for lots of reasons, some simple and some complex, we generally accept “the way things are.”
What if you could move beyond that? What if there are other ways things could be? What if you could identify all that is not serving you and uncover the extraordinary capacities hidden inside of you?
What might a new understanding of yourself, and a new perspective on the things holding you back, mean for you and the people in your life; for the work you do and for the ways you interact with the world?
Whether openly struggling through the challenges of life, and the extra helping of anxiety, grief, injustice and pain the last year has served up, or somehow managing to keep things looking pretty good on the outside, many of us know we're not (and possibly never were) functioning as our highest and most authentic selves.
We tell ourselves we’ll get things together and make progress once this pandemic is finally over, once we get back to work, find a better job, lose the weight, finally get through to our partner, or meet the right person... once we pass this or that milestone that will give us more time, money, freedom or motivation. But the time to start improving your life, to start growing, is always now. As the proverb says, The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
It doesn't matter whether the steps are large or small, it only matters that we begin.
Identifying who you really are and using that knowledge to move beyond the parts of your life that aren't serving you is urgent work. And it can be rich, joyful and endlessly fulfilling work once you get going. It’s the beginning that counts.
Life is full of opportunities, but as long as your head is down and your energy is focused on all the things you have to do, it's hard to spot them. This is where I can help.
Life is also short, but one of its gifts is the chance to know and be yourself. To uncover which opportunities speak to who you are — so you can fully embrace them, and build a life driven not by the way things are, but by who you choose to be.
So how do you get THERE from where you are now? What are the steps, what order should you take them in, and how do you know if you're making progress?
If you're ready to work through these questions, or are simply curious about the process and want to learn more about how coaching might help you, let’s talk.
